FIELD: foundry practice. SUBSTANCE: a charge is melted in the melting zone of a crucible, and the composition of the molten metal is adjusted by modification. A casting mould is inserted into the clear portion of the crucible and secured to the housing of a movable part of a melting furnace. The furnace is then turned towards the pouring spout of the crucible, the molten metal is poured into the mould and the movable part of the furnace is returned into the original position. The metal contained in the feeder head of the mould is kept molten during the solidification. Preparatory to melting the charge, the crucible is covered with a lid, and the modifying agent is introduced through the clear portion of the crucible. A compressed inert gas blow is fed into the melting zone through an opening in the lid during the periods of melting the charge, pouring the mould and solidification of the casting.
