FIELD: cellulose industry. SUBSTANCE: cellulose suspension is treated with polycarboxylic nitrogen-containing acid - diethylenetriaminepentaacetic or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid at 26-100 C, preferably at 40-90 C, at pH 6-7 for 1-360 min. Then treated mass is washed with water and treated with peroxide agent, mainly hydrogen peroxide, at 5-130 C for 5-960 min. Indicated successive stages were carried out after acid-alkaline stage of whitening. After treatment stage with peroxide agent cellulose suspension for whitening is subjected for additional whitening. Cellulose suspension without sulfite treatment is used as an initial suspension for whitening. Method is used for bleached cellulose production. EFFECT: improved method of cellulose whitening. 8 cl, 15 tbl
