FIELD: pulp-and-paper industry. SUBSTANCE: bleaching process includes washing pulp with a washing liquid followed by bleaching with peroxide-containing compound. Prior to be washed, pulp is treated with a magnesium compound at pH within the range 1 to 7. When treating pulp, a calcium compound may also be added. pH value in this case may be higher than when treating pulp with magnesium compound.
