SUBSTANCE: product: pentaerythritol, empirical formula is C5H12O4, yield is 85%, m. p. is 256-258 C, dipentaerythrite content is 0.3% , content of sugary substance is 0.003%. Calcium formate, empirical formula is C2H20O4Ca, yield is 36 kg per 1 mole acetaldehyde. Reagent 1: acetaldehyde. Reagent 2: formaldehyde. Reaction conditions: in aqueous medium in the presence of calcium oxide. Milk of lime (0.67 mole) is added to the reaction mass containing 72 moles water, 5.5 moles formaldehyde and 1 mole acetaldehyde, then condensation solution is heated up to the complete conversion of aldehydes and neutralized with 0.346-0.423 mole H2SO4 per 1 mole acetaldehyde. Then pentaerythritol is isolated firstly following by isolation of calcium formate. EFFECT: improved method of pentaerythritol preparing. 1 tbl
