FIELD: forest industry. SUBSTANCE: balloon 11 with load or without it is moved in lateral direction, i.e. from one side edge of the cutting area to the other, by switching on winch 2 or 3 for reeling-up. In this case the other winch is switched on for reeling-out, or it is in the floating position. Balloon 11 with load or without is moved towards cutting area 9 (towards piling) by switching on winch 4 for reeling-up, with winches 2 and 3 being unbraked. Reverse movement of the balloon, towards the rear edge of the cutting area, is effected by switching on winches 2 and 3 for reeling-up, with winch 4 being unbraked. Descent of balloon 11 for paying-off of hook 15 of hoisting cable 14 to the load is accomplished by tension of cables by switching on both winches 2 and 3 for rolling-up, with winch 4 being braked. Before hook 15 is paid off logs are choked. Chokers 16 are connected to hook 15. Lifting of logs choked and connected to hook 15 is accomplished, with winches 2 and 3 being unbraked due to the presence of floating force of balloon 11 exceeding the mass of the load (logs) attached to hoisting cable 14 by 10 to 20%.
