LUMBERING METHOD AND APPARATUS WITH CABLE LOGGING OF RAW WOOD MATERIAL Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: forestry. SUBSTANCE: method involves felling trees on cuttings; moving load carrier to workable cutting area by means of logging winch return cable; forming tree packets; locating bases of trunks of tree packet on load carrier; logging tree packet to loading station. At loading station load carrier is moved to felled trees on cutting area by means of return cable connected to winch load cable through movable pulley block on load cable of load carrier. Apparatus has logging winch unit with load and return cables which define in conjunction with guiding pulleys closed space. Load bearing tool is made in the form of carrier with drive part and is positioned between pulling and return cables. Load bearing tool has shield pivotally attached with its mid portion on axle of single-axle wheeled carrier. Such method and construction allow time consumed for forming tree packets, moving and retaining tree packets on load carrier to be reduced.
