FIELD: sterilization and disinfection of liquid media. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has ultraviolet lamp with protective quartz casing coaxially mounted within cavity of chamber, water supply and discharge branch pipes. Intake end of water discharge branch pipe is mounted in chamber radially and in spaced relation with respect to quartz casing, with space being equal to 0.5-1 of branch pipe inner diameter. Discharge end of branch pipe is formed as U-shaped tube positioned in vertical plane. Water is passed through space between chamber and quartz casing to be treated by ultraviolet radiation and is conducted to intake end of water discharge branch pipe and delivered to consumer through U-shaped portion. Upon termination of treatment process water remaining in U-shaped portion of branch pipe forms water seal, which prevents ambient air from entering chamber.
