SUBSTANCE: method of multiband multitrack magnetic recording- reproducing of stereosignals with the common sound channel comprises steps of dividing a frequency band of each channel to several subbands; detecting levels of signals of respective subbands of left and wright channels in order to form control signals with modulated carrier outside of frequencies of the subbands, summing signals of subbands and the modulated control signals with subsequent writing on a respective subtrack of a magnetic carrier and at reproducing step separating by filtration signals of the subbands and control signals; demodulating the control signals in order to change the levels of the separated signals of the subbands; summing the signals of the subbands with formation of summed stereosignals of the right and the left channels.
