FIELD: metal plastic working. SUBSTANCE: forging is made by concurrent squeezing the ingot by slide blocks in a container from four sides along all length of its casing. Slide blocks of different working surface shape are used depending on the state of initial ingot quality state. In so doing, working surface shape of the slide blocks of one pair differs from one of another pair. Ingot forging is carried out in a device having upper and lower plates and a container connected to the upper plate. The container is provided with slideways and slide blocks. Cross sections of working surfaces of the slide blocks are convex or concave and smooth. The slide blocks may also be concave or convex with relief surface. Contact surfaces of the slide ways and slide blocks are inclined at an angle equal to 5 to 10. In so doing the lower plate has solid hole for ingot casting head and is interconnected to revolution mechanism. EFFECT: highly effective forging. 4 cl, 8 dwg
