FIELD: virology. SUBSTANCE: strain K/452 ECHO 19 virus is isolated in 1981 from feces of 6-month old boy with acute uveitis. Strain is deposited in State Collection of Virology Institute at number 2273. Strain K/452 ECHO 19 virus shows expressed ophthalmotropism in monkey experiments and represents antigen species of ECHO 19 virus. Strain K/452 distincts from standard strain ECHO 19 virus by antigenicity in neutralization reaction. Strain K/452 ECHO 19 virus is used as diagnostic antigen preparation in neutralization reaction for specific serological diagnosis of enteroviral uveitis in children. Detection in children with obscure etiology of antibodies to the strain K/452 at titer 1:64 and above (usually (1:512)-(1:2048)) is a laboratory proof of etiological involvement of ECHO 19 virus with eye disease which is related with strain K/452 by antigenicity. EFFECT: detection of virus strain indicated above. 2 tbl
