FIELD: pulp-and-paper industry. SUBSTANCE: in the initial stage separated is the second fraction of the chips into two fractions the first fraction containing conditioned chips intended directly for digestion stage and the second fraction comprising irregular thick chips bearing a portion of conditioned chips. The irregular chips are isolated from the second fraction and freed of stones and metal such that the chips can be directed to the device adapted to decrease the size of the chips following which the chips are recycled to the rotary sorter. The mentioned portion of conditioned chips is separated and blended with the chips intended for digestion stage. Claimed is also a device effective for a two-stage sorting of wood chips.
