FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: two electrodes of capacitive measuring element are manufactured in the form of grating or grid built into proper discs or in the form of film layer of material transparent for optical element. They, source of light and photoelectric element are mounted in one case on different sides of article so that electrodes are positioned along path of ray of light source of optical measuring element placed at some distance from capacitive measuring element in direction of movement of article. If filament passing through measuring slit has change of cross-section which is outcome of defect of yarn, for instance thickening or thinning, then shadowing of photodiode changes and consequently its output signal changes. With the aid of this change of output signal of photodiode it is possible either to register point of defect as such or to stop moving filament and correct point of defect. Signal of both measuring devices are so processed that it is possible to determine some other measured values, such as volume, humidity, fluffiness, foreign fibres, twisting, specific weight and so fourth. EFFECT: simultaneous use of both measuring elements increases measurement accuracy, variations of accuracy of both systems are mutually at least partially eliminated. 9 cl, 3 dwg
