FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: device for fireproofing textile materials comprises a chamber with fabric inlet and outlet openings, a pipe disposed in chamber and intended to pass a gas through said fabric, said gas containing ammonia among its components. The device comprises circulation means designed to remove at least part of gas and return it later into the chamber, and a sampling means to determine the concentration of ammonia in the chamber. Textile fabric passes in a serpent-like manner through rotating cylinders disposed inside the chamber. The chamber may also be provided with a sloping roof to forestall the flow of liquid onto the fabric and to collect the condensed liquid. The initial concentration of ammonia is set between 70 and 90% in order to preserve the supply of ammonia to compensate for the increased consumption of ammonia and its absorption by fabric at low temperatures. EFFECT: improved operating and functional characteristics. 17 cl, 2 tbl
