FIELD: polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: fabric is impregnated with aqueous solution of poly(hydroxyorgano)phosphonium compound until 50-73% content of the latter on fabric. Impregnated fabric is dried to 13-25% moisture content and hardened with ammonia to form water-insoluble polymer mechanically fixed in fibers, after which fabric is aged for at least one hour. Hardened polymer is then oxidized to convert trivalent phosphorus into pentavalent phosphorus. Fabric is finally washed and dried. EFFECT: acquired fire resistance. 13 cl, 7 tbl, 3 ex
