FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: hollow cylinder 6 is mounted on outer surface of intermediate friction ring 4 for permitting axial movement. Hydrodynamic cut, which defines two axially vortex seals 9,10, is made on the inner cylindrical surface of cylinder 6 and outer cylindrical surfaces of friction rings 2,5. In starting, parts of one of two face pairs begin to slide one with respect the other. Under the action of fluid, evacuated from the seal, cylinder 6 moves in the direction of the other friction pair up to coincidence of cuts of the axially vortex seal. Under the action of periphery force, the other friction pair is set in relative motion. In operation, cylinder 6 has intermediate position defined by unbalance of sliding speeds in the friction pairs. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 1 dwg
