FIELD: valve gearing for internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: curve of the second derivative of plunger displacement with respect to angle of rotation of the cam, which defines its profile, consists of part 1,2 of positive values and the part 3,4 of negative values. The parts are made up as piecewise linear functions of rotation angle of the cam which contains the finite number of segments with initial conditions a priory given at the beginning of the part 1,2 of positive values and the end of the part 3,4 of negative values. Absolute value of the second derivative in the points of buts between the segments is maximum if derivatives of the second and more higher orders are limited and contact stress in engaging the cam with the plunger is bounded.
