FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to valve operating mechanisms of internal combustion engines. Proposed cam of valve operating mechanism has ascent and descent surfaces formed by second derivative of travel of follower in cam turning angle and consisting of section of section of positive values and section of negative values. Said sections are made in form of piecewise-linear functions of cam turning angle containing finate number of segments with preset initial conditions at beginning of section of positive values and end of sections of negative values. Values of second derivative in joints points of adjacent segments according to modulus are maximum at limitations of derivatives of second and higher orders. Values of second derivative in butt points of adjacent segments according to modulus are maximum also at limitations of intensity of wear of cam-follower surfaces.
EFFECT: increased wear resistance, provision of reliable operation of cam drive.
