FIELD: hydrometeorology. SUBSTANCE: to improve sensitivity and accuracy of metering of the drained liquid, the rain gauge comprises precipitation-collecting chamber accommodating a siphon and a forced liquid-discharge unit. The latter is made as a tipping container installed on an axle, having a certain volume, a float secured at the container bottom, and a stop. The volume of the container is equal to the increment of the liquid level in the precipitation-collecting chamber sufficient for filling the siphon to 2/3 the pipe diameter in the point of the curve. As the container is tipped, the liquid flows from it into the precipitation-collecting chamber so that its liquid level rises and fills the siphon which sucks in liquid from the precipitation-collecting chamber. EFFECT: improved design. 3 dwg
