FIELD: paintwork materials. SUBSTANCE: suspension of red iron-oxide pigment is prepared, and added to suspension is sodium polyphosphate in the amount of 0.25-1.5 mas.% in terms of P2O5 with respect to pigment, or solution of sulfuric acid up to pH=1.7-2.1. Treatment with the latter is carried out at 90-100 C for 1-2 h. Produced are pigments with negative Z-potential having no isoelectric point within the interval of 2<pH<13. Pigment fixation on material with preset electrokinetic characteristics is 80-97%. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 tbl
