FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: hydraulic starter 6 is gear-driven. By supplying fluid from hydraulic accumulator 1 to piston 15 through valve 7 and pipe line 8, driving gear 13 is brought into engagement with flywheel 14 of the engine and thus sets shaft 11 in rotation. The piston is positioned in inlet passage 9 of housing 10 of hydraulic starter 6 which, in turn, supplies fluid to the pair of gears 21 and 22 by opening passage 23. Fluid is drained to hydraulic tank 3 through passage 24 and drain pipe line 25. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 4 dwg
