FIELD: instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: instrument scales are optically scanned, signals corresponding to reading components of instrument are discriminated in the course of scanning, position of pointer and scale marks is determined by position of discriminated signals; first entire scale is scanned with pointer set to zero, number and position of scale marks are determined by discriminated signals, then scale is scanned while preset signal is applied to instrument input, number and position of discriminated signals is determined. When number of discriminated signals and that of scale marks coincide, pointer aliggnment with scale mark verified is noted, otherwise pointer position is determined by position of one of discriminated signals not in coincidence with at least one of predetermined positions of scale marks. EFFECT: improved verification accuracy.
