FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: input signal varying according to known law is applied to instrument to be verified, instrument scale is scanned at a constant speed, instrument readings in each scanning cycle are determined and at moment of taking the reading interpolation polynomial characteristic curve is constructed showing instrument readings as function of verification time. Using polynomial characteristic curve, moments of alignment of pointer with reading marks to be verified are found. Instrument error is determined as difference between value of scale division mark aligned with pointer and actual value of input signal at this moment.
