FIELD: chemistry, particularly, chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: this process includes such steps as preparation of Νi(NO3)2 solution, evaporating it to mass concentration of at least 1.1 kg/l, thermal treatment of prepared solution in fluidized bed of nickel oxide particles, returning nitric acid resulting from condensation of gases to unit for preparation of starting solution of nickel nitrate, and using water vapor in thermal treatment phase as liquefying agent in boiling bed apparatus at ratio indicated in patent specification. EFFECT: disclosed process allows producing nickel oxide of desired chemical and granulometric constitution and prevent undesired discharge of nitrogen oxides. 1 dwg, 2 tbl
