FIELD: nuclear chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of concentrating radioactive wastes. Disclosed method includes breaking down ammonium ions and/or nitric acid by reaction with formalin and regeneration thereof by absorption and rectification. Processable solutions can be formed in different hydrometallurgical technologies of nuclear fuel cycle. Processing is performed in continuous mode in an evaporator with an external heating chamber with continuous evaporation of solution and natural circulation of stillage solution. Formaldehyde is continuously fed under level of solution, resulting in breakdown of nitric acid and/or ammonium ions, nitric acid is then absorbed from nitrous gases on irrigated plates and formed water vapour is condensed, and nitrogen oxides are absorbed, after which nitric acid is regenerated by rectification.
EFFECT: technical result is conducting process in continuous mode.
