FIELD: optical ceramics production. SUBSTANCE: method provides for introduction of double alkoxyl of magnesium and aluminum in 0.11 - 0.6 chrome nitrate solution with magnesium content of 13.4 - 14.2, aluminum content of 28.2 - 29.0. Then solution is subjected to thermal treatment in oxygen atmosphere under temperature of 600 - 800 C with following hot pressing in vacuum under temperature of 1250 -1300 C with application of pressure under temperature of no less than 1200 C. EFFECT: production of artificial noble spinel of pink and red colors with high mechanical strength. 1 tbl
