FIELD: heat treatment of granular materials. SUBSTANCE: sectionalized apparatus for heat treatment of granular materials additionally has vertical shell-and-tube heat exchanger 3 installed above gas distributing grate 2. Heat exchanger tube plate is made of separate members 4 with seal 5 between them and confined by individual body 6, respectively, from one or more adjacent sections 1. Partition 8 is installed in a spaced relation to grate 2 and separates the space above grate into two zones 10 and 11. Plates 12 passing through zones 10 and 11 are additionally installed square to partition 8 between rows of tube of heat exchanger 3. Ratio between height of gap 9 and width of grate of one zone is taken equal to HS=0.2 to 0.6, where H is gap. height; S is grate width. Ratio between area of gap 9 and area of flow section of heat exchanger tubes in one section equals F/F1=0,4-0,6, where F is gap area, and F1 is area of tube flow section.
