FIBRE-OPTICAL INDICATOR OF OUTSIDE ACTION Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2036419 C1

FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: radiation of broadband source 1 is entered into fibre-optical light guide 2 with double beam refraction exposed to two actions: first-measured externally and second - scanned calibrated. With geometrical equality of paths from first action to second one and from second one to output butt of fibre-optical light guide intermode interference is observed. Polarizer 3 of optical radiation having polarization axis arranged at angle 45 deg to axes of double beam refraction is installed across output of fibre-optical light guide to convert changes of interference pattern into changes of intensity at input of photodetector 4 which electric signal is registered by processing unit 5. Scanning deformer 6 controlled by unit 7 is installed in fibre-optical light guide 2. Signals from control unit 7 as well as from processing unit 5 are sent to information display 8. In this case small number of optical elements in optical path diminishes losses of optical power, simplifies design and consequently enhances operational reliability of indicator.
