FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical systems, namely, to the development of gyroscopes operating based on the Sagnac effect. Substance of the claimed technical solution is as follows. The fibre contour constitutes a truncated cone and is made in the form of a contour of optical fibre wound onto a frame in the form of multiple loops of a flat closed O-shaped winding placed around the perimeter on the side surface of the frame. Herewith, the fibre contour ensures the propagation of light waves in each loop when said loop is passed in the forward and reverse directions, and each lateral side of the optical fibre loop covers the lengths of circumferences of the frame bases for the fibre contour, the tops of the optical fibre loops close the lengths of circumference of the frame bases for the fibre contour.

EFFECT: higher sensitivity of the fibre-optic gyroscope given low input angular velocities, lower labour intensity of the fibre contour manufacturing technology and the procedure for winding optical fibre thereon.
