FIELD: high-temperature fuel elements. SUBSTANCE: fuel element has matrix 1, electrochemically active anode 2 and cathode 3 permeable to gas and layer of solid electrolyte composed of discretely arranged granules 5 located between electrodes contacting them. Special feature of fuel element lies in that matrix 1 has netted structure and granules 5 are put into cells of matrix 1 with interference and have operational sections for contact with anode 2 and cathode 3. One of electrodes is electrically isolated from matrix 1 with the help of insulators 8, the other is electrically coupled with matrix. Distinction of process of manufacture of fuel element consists in that matrix 1 and layer of solid electrolyte made of granules 5 are formed by one technological cycle by pressing composition incorporating granules 5 and small fraction of material of matrix 1 and are baked later into monolithic gas-tight matrix layer. Layer of material of matrix 1 is applied to surface of granules 5 before formation of matrix layer which excludes direct contact of granules 5 over electrolyte material in formed matrix layer. Given structural make of fuel element realized by described process makes it possible to solve problem of increase of reliability of device as the whole with reduced cost thanks to fabrication of metal-and-ceramic junctions in microdimensions and to provision of commutation of discrete electrochemical cells 9 of fuel element by means of matrix 1.
