FIELD: pyrometallurgy. SUBSTANCE: furnace comprising shaft 1, caissoned belt 2 with tuyeres 3 has a relation of above-tuyere to under-tuyere zones from 0.8: 1 to 1.4:1. The furnace also has hearth 7, devices with openings for separate discharge of slag and matte. The level of threshold 13 of matte opening 12 between shaft 1 and slime siphon 8 is 1-1.8 the height of the under-tuyere zone while the level of threshold 10 of slag opening above the lower edge of end wall 6 between shaft 1 and slag siphon 8 is 1-1.2 the height of the under-tuyere zone. EFFECT: improved performance achieved by preventing supercooling of furnace and formation of intermediate layer in slag bath. 1 dwg
