FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: fuel supply system has fuel tank, corse filter, make-up pump, fine filter, and device for supplying fuel to the engine (carburetor or high pressure pump). Main emergency shut-off valve is incorporated in the pipe line which connects the make-up pump with the device for supplying fuel in the engine. The additional emergency shut-off valve is connected in the line which connects the tank with the make-up pump. The seats of the main and additional emergency valves are arranged at the inlets of the outlets openings of the housings of the corse and fine filter. Each outlet opening is arranged at the top part of the filter housing. When the engine is not in operation, the closure member of each emergency valve is mounted inside the filtering member and is freely positioned on the bottom of the filtering member when a vehicle is in normal position or is on the seat when the vehicle is overturned. The inlet passage of each filter is positioned horizontally and shifted with respect to the symmetry axis of the space of the filter housing. A net- like supporting ring is mounted inside the housing of each filter. Balls for self-cleaning of the filtering member are positioned on the supporting member. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 dwg
