FIELD: agricultural engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves extraction of cotton fibers from bolls followed by transporting fibers into a receiving chamber. Nonsplit cotton bolls are flattened concurrently with extraction of fibers. The cotton-harvesting apparatus comprises cone-shaped drums installed in pairs in a housing and coated with flexible antistatic material. Drums can revolve in a vertical plane and have a hold-down mechanism. In operation, cotton plants get between the drums where fibers are extracted and nonsplit bolls flattened. EFFECT: improved functional and operating characteristics. 4 cl, 4 dwg
