FIELD: working metals. SUBSTANCE: socket 9 is made in bottom 4 of hollow 2 at its top 7 in holder 1. A support is made up as rod 8 received in socket 9. The outer face of the rod is positioned in the plane of bottom 4 of hollow 2. It can be made of hard alloy or steel. In operation, at the site of the contact between cutting plate 3 and blank and chip, cutting plate 3 is heated particularly in the region of top 10. As the rod underlying plate 3 takes lesser area at top 7 than area of top 5 of holder 1, the greater portion of the heat is withdrawn from cutting plate 3 through a material of holder 1 and lesser portion of heat is withdrawn through the rod resulting in decreased heat accumulation in the region of cutting top 10.
