MODULAR-UNIT TOOL AND DEVICE FOR HONING OUTER CYLINDRICAL SURFACE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: metal working, possibly working outer cylindrical surfaces, for example surfaces of plungers of well pumps. SUBSTANCE: modular-unit tool includes housing with system for supplying cutting fluid. Said system includes two ducts open to seats arranged in housing and designed for mounting detachable cutting and deforming units. Modular-unit tool is provided with detachable honing device having honing bars; said device includes unit for mounting it in seat for detachable deforming unit, unit for radially moving honing bars and unit for regulating value of radial motion of bars. Honing device includes casing with radial grooves for placing in them shoes having cone surface and carrying honing bars. Unit for radially moving honing bars is in the form of axially moving wedges that may engage with cone surface of shoes. Honing unit is provided with stop whose position may be regulated in axial direction and that is mounted on casing and spring arranged between end surface of wedges of unit for radially moving honing bars and said stop. Unit for regulating radial motion value of honing bars is in the form of second stop whose position may be regulated in axial direction and that is mounted on casing with possibility of engaging with other end surface of said wedges. Use of group of inventions allows to perform in the same lathe combination and separate cutting processes such as surface plastic deforming and honing while providing accurate radial displacement of honing bars.
