FIELD: preparation of catalysts. SUBSTANCE: alcohol solvates of rare- earth element chlorides are produced by reaction of rare-earth element oxides with hydrochlorinating agent in medium of monobasic aliphatic alcohol with subsequent driving off of alcohol excess. Alcohol is driven off in the presence of 20-100 mas. of petroleum oil or liquid paraffin with boiling temperature of 220-270 C and simultaneous formation of dispersion of alcohol solvates of rare-earth element chlorides.
