FIELD: production of glass and ceramic articles. SUBSTANCE: flocculated sediment of pigmentary titanium dioxide is dewatered by filtering. Dewatered sediment contains 50-75 mas. of TiO, the balance, water. Briquettes are formed and subjected to heat treatment at 125-700 C for period needed for reduction of quantity of free water down to less than 5 mas. Product is comminuted to obtain at least 85% of particles sizing 150-1700 mcm and additionally moistened with water in the amount of 0.25-11 mas. and sintered. This procedure results in powder containing at least 95 mas. of particles sizing 150-1700 mcm. Maximum size of aggregates does not change. Powder bulk density is 0.5-3.5 g/cu.cm, it is well soluble in molten glass and ceramics. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 2 tbl
