FIELD: treatment of tools made from quick-cutting steel. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing mitroxidation at 590-610 C and simultaneously tempering for 30-100 min in medium containing carbamides, ethanolamines and carbonaceous component, with ratio being within the range of 1:3 relative to carbonaceous component. Tempering is conducted at various cooling and heating conditions. Basic component pyrolysis atmosphere or burden or pasteous material may be used as medium for nitroxidation. EFFECT: increased efficiency of method and improved quality of tool treated by this method. 13 cl, 1 tbl
