FIELD: electrolysis. SUBSTANCE: electrode for melt salt electrolysis has graphite working head with a recess plated with metal to install current supply rod in it. Annular gap is between the recess and the rod. Recess depth equals 2.5 2.6 its diameter. Recess bottom is semi-spherical. Working head/current supply rod gap is filled with low-melting- temperature alloy for 3/4 4/5 recess depth. The alloy is saturated with plating metal. Nickel plating of 1 4 mm thick is the best one. EFFECT: increased electrode life time and decreased power consumption to produce unit product. 5 cl
