FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed electrolytic cell comprises porous ceramic diaphragm fitted in the cell casing. Said diaphragm is composed of vessel for liquid metal that doubles as a second electrode while first electrode is arranged vertically around said diaphragm. Diaphragm vessel is intended for liquid cathode lead. Space between electrolytic cell casing and diaphragm is to be filled with liquid anode material. Note here that said diaphragm is produced by plasma spraying of corundum ceramics powder with bulk porosity permeable for fused salt electrolyte but impermeable for cathode lead.
EFFECT: perfected design.
