FIELD: piston-type internal combustion engine. SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine has cylinder with piston inside it and cylinder head which houses the following components: main combustion chamber, pre-combustion chamber equipped with spark plug and additional chamber connected with pre-combustion chamber by means of scavenging passage, main intake passage brought in communication with main combustion chamber through main intake valve and intake manifold brought in communication with pre-combustion chamber through additional intake valve. Main combustion chamber is bounded with expulsor on side of second lateral wall; above-mentioned additional chamber is made in body of expulsor. Additional chamber is enclosed in slotted volume formed between piston head and end surface of expulsor facing it when piston is at top dead center. Such construction of engine provides for effective scavenging of pre-combustion chamber; in the course of compression, enriched fuel-and-air mixture is fed to pre-combustion chamber which makes it possible to lean the mixture fed to cylinder, to reduce advance angle and to lean increase actual degree of compression.
