FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method of manufacture of fluorescent lamps to press-fitting electrode leads into corresponding stems, blowing through of exhaust tube in stem, mounting of electrode units, securing mercury source, welding of stems, evacuating, filling with inert gas, sealing off and introduction of mercury by thermal decomposition of mercury source, capping and training. Thermal decomposition is done after sealing off of lamp to form "Penning mixture" in lamp space and second time, when training the lamp until nominal luminous flux is provided. Initially, thermal decomposition of mercury source is done by arc discharge in lamp at voltage not less than 10 times higher than nominal current. At initial thermal decomposition of mercury source voltage is supplied through resistors whose rating is 5-6 times higher than resistance of electrodes at nominal starting current. EFFECT: enhanced quality of product. 2 cl, 2 dwg
