FIELD: production of low-pressure amalgam lamps, for instance, quartz glass bactericidal lamps. SUBSTANCE: low-pressure gaseous discharge lamp has tubular glass bulb with stems with exhaust tube and current lead-in wires. Electrodes are fitted on current lead-in wires. Bulb is with filled with inert gas and it contains amalgam located in cavity on rectilinear section of bulb formed at sealing off. Amalgam is held in cavity owing to its shape made to the following relationship: Ф12 and l=0,4-1,7Ф3 where Ф1 diameter of hole connecting cavity with lamp inner space; Ф2 diameter of cavity; 1 length of exhaust tube section left after sealing off; Ф3 outer diameter of exhaust tube. Method of manufacture of low-pressure gaseous discharge lamp comes to the following operation; vacuum treatment, charging the bulb with inert gas and sealing off. Amalgam is introduced into lamp bulb either before filling the bulb with inert gas or before sealing off. After sealing off amalgam is placed in cavity formed at sealing off and is heated to melt.
