SUBSTANCE: secured at ends of anchor pal, are ears 1 which receive ends of chain 2 whose length is so selected that chain does not get above anchor shackle 3 when it is extended by midpoint to end of shank. Shot 6 of anchor chain is secured to midpoint of chain 2 by means of connecting ring 4 and swivel 5. Secured to shot 6 is 30- or 40-m length of rope, type HERCULES, which is connected to link 9 of shipboard anchor chain by means of hook 8. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 1 dwg
