FIELD: electric engineering. SUBSTANCE: current clippers and controlled resistors are introduced to accomplish the goal of invention. Invention changes method for control of controlled gates. This results in possibility to decrease overload current, and current caused by short circuit, to decrease power used by control circuit. This also provides possibility of self-generation of control turning- on signal having optimal duration and power. This also provides possibility to use combined methods for turning-on and off and to decrease losses on commutation of controlled gates. In addition alternation range of load characteristics is increased; controlled gates and device as whole is switched off automatically when it is overloaded or short-circuited. Regulation of current and voltage in load is provided both by current clipper and during turning-off. Device has controlled gates, current clippers, controlled resistors, load, terminals for connection of corresponding controlling sources, additional control input for controlled resistors.
