FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: each converter phase has first and second valves; first like-polarity leads of all phases of valves are combined and second ones are connected to power supply leads. Converter has controlled valve current sensor (limiter), adjustable resistor. Second leads of first valves are connected to respective first leads of second valves. Second like- polarity leads of second valves are combined and connected to first combined leads of first valves through series-connected circuit set up of controlled valve and current sensor. Point of connection of controlled valve and sensor first leads is connected to second lead for connecting control power supply through adjustable resistor. Control output of the latter is connected to second lead of current sensor. EFFECT: improved design. 7 cl, 3 dwg
