FIELD: tailoring industry. SUBSTANCE: mechanism comprises a block of master forms and a pusher installed on an axle and linked kinematically with the needle carrier deflection frame, a zigzag width regulator handle connected with the needle carrier frame by a two-rocker mechanism installed in machine frame, one of said rockers having the form of a link, and a zigzag displacement regulator handle provided with an eccentric kinematically connected with the link. The end surface of the zigzag displacement regulator handle has a slot of a variable radius while the internal space of the regulator has an axle-mounted catch provided with a pin entering the regulator slot with a provision for turning around said axle on turning of the displacement regulator handle and on interaction of the end surface of the catch with a projection provided on the zigzag width regulator handle. The connecting rod of the two-rocker mechanism carries a spring connected with the machine frame, and a support member contacting with a cam installed on the handle of the zigzag width regulator. EFFECT: limiting maximum size of zigzag when shifting sewing machine from work with one-stem to two-stem needle. 6 dwg
