FIELD: metal pressure forming. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of heating ingots in a pit with charging temperature, equal to 700-950 C; beginning operation of rolling ingots and terminating that operation along a large side of the initial ingot; performing further reduction along a small side of the initial ingot at a limited widening of the small side of the initial ingot, oriented in the pit towards to a torch and at subsequent rolling forming at that side a head of a rail section; upon heating blanks in the furnace orienting the small side of the initial ingot, turned to the torch in the pit, towards a crown of the furnace. EFFECT: increased yielding due to lowered number of defects on a surface of a rail head. 2 cl, 10 dwg, 1 tbl
