FIELD: rolled stock production, possibly rolling rails of continuously cast billet.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of rolling billets in rough passes for forming rail shapes at preliminarily cutting faces designed for forming flange and head of shape in slit girder pass; performing last pass in trapezoidal groove with deep cutting of face designed for forming flange of rail. Height of ridge in trapezoidal grooved pass is determined depending upon minimum length of peripheral zone and acicular-crystal zone of continuously cast billet and upon total height of ridges at side of flange in pass for preliminarily cutting and in trapezoidal grooved pass.
EFFECT: improved uniformity of distribution of impact-viscosity values along width of rail, improved characteristics of impact testing of rail flange by bending.
