FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: inverted water-in-oil type muds for utilizing geological deposits, more particularly a hydrocarbon phase comprising an ester of monohydric alcohol with 2 to 12 aliphatic carbon atoms and of an aliphatically saturated monocarboxylic acid with 12 to 16 carbon atoms (55-95 wt) and having fluidity within a temperature range of 0 to 5 C and a viscosity of not greater than 50 MPa within said temperature range and also a crystallization temperature of lower than minus 10 C and a flash temperature of higher than 100 C. Said ester comprises as the monocarboxylic acid a linear acid of vegetable origin based on triglyceride derivatives of coconut and palm tree oil. The hydrocarbon phase may further comprise an ester of a monohydric alcohol with 2 to 12 aliphatic carbon atoms and of a monocarboxylic acid with 16 to 24 carbon atoms having one or several double bonds.
