FIELD: rolling. SUBSTANCE: wire rods with metal temperature of 1000-1050 C from high-carbon steel of grades 70-85 and diameter of 5.5-10 mm intended for manufacture of high-strength reinforcement wire is produced on blocks of finishing stands of wire rod mill and passed through unit of accelerated cooling (water cooling line) to cool it down to temperature of cast tcast=60-950°C=680-950 C. Casting unit forms coils of wire rods and place them into closed chamber with metal temperature of tcact. Coils of wire rods in the chamber are cooled with blowing gas at cooling rate of vcool down to temperature of not above 500 C. Final cooling of wire rods down to shop ambient temperature is effect in the course of coil transportation by conveyer. Cooled coils are formed in bundles in bundle collector. Cooling of coils in closed chamber for each size of wire rods is conducted with cooling rate vcod regulated by varying velocity of gas flow vflow. When required, used as additional regulating factor is coil cast temperature tcast in closed chamber. Rate of cooling of wire rods in closed chamber is established on the basis of experimental relation: (vcod=(0,01flow-0,35)(0,047tcast-2)(0,461+0,202dw.2-0,019d
